RINH/BioSS Beowulf cluster

Welcome to the Beowulf cluster at the University of Aberdeen Rowett Institute of Nutrition and Heath (RINH) and Biomathematics and Statistics Scotland (BioSS).

Click the menu tabs at the top of this page to access web applications or services provided by the cluster - You do not need to login on the cluster to access the services, but you need your RINH or NuGO username and password to access GenePattern. Click the Desktop tab to login and use the Beowulf Desktop.

The RINH/BioSS Beowulf project aims to provide a bioinformatics server that can be accessed either using a web browser or remote desktop login, or via SOAP-based web services. You can transfer files between the Beowulf cluster and your own PC directly using GenePattern, or by downloading and installing a Windows SFTP client. Please email Tony Travis, if you need help using the Beowulf cluster.

This is a dual-head 90-node openMosix Beowulf based on EPCC BOBCAT and runs 'biobuntu', which consists of Bio-Linux packages installed with other freely available bioinformatics software under Ubuntu Linux.

Operational status on 2010-03-07

The Beowulf is running normally, and is available for use.
